BREAST CANCER -IT HAS A CURE

Now, I want to highlight an issue of women's health. 

The most common issue is BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer is consider as second dangerous cancer which is life threatening. 

What is Breast cancer!? 

It is a disease that occurs when cells in breast tissue change or mutate and keep reproducing. 
These abnormal cells usually cluster together to form a tumor.
The cluster invade to other breast tissue i.e.metastatize or areas of body through blood or lymphatic stream. It usually start in milk producing glands.
It occurs in females but rarely it occurs in males. 

Breast cancer is caused by genetic mutation in DNA cells. The reason of the mutation or change is not known. 

There are some RISK FACTORS can lead to breast cancer. 

* Age

Most common age is over 50 years.Most common Average age 41-60.

Family History

If your close relative have breast cancer you may higher risk of developing breast cancer. 
There are some genes can increase risk of breast cancer like BRCA1,BRCA2.

* Previous Breast cancer or lump

* Hormones 

Exposure to estrogen. Not having children or having children in later life may slightly increase risk of breast cancer. 

* Hormone replacement therapy 

* Oral contraceptive pills

Life style factors

* Over weight or obese
* Alcohol 
* Radiation therapy 
* Exposure to X-rays frequently 

Symptoms

- First women notice a lump or an area of thickened tissue in their breast. 
One should see your GP if you notice any following,
- Change in size or shape of one or both breast. 
- Nipple discharge (blood stained). 
- A lump or swelling in either of your armpits.
-Rashes on or around the nipple .

-Inverted nipple. 
- Breast pain 
- Swollen blue veins. 

  Diagnosis 

Mamograms and Ultrasound is noninvasive method of diagnosis. 

Biopsy: It's a method where a sample of tissue is taken from breast and tested weather its is cancerous. 
Needle aspirations are also done were fluid collected in breast is taken and checked.

There can be secondary breast cancer i.e. it spread from other tissue. Primary cancer is in different tissue. 



Treatment of breast cancer 

- Radiotherapy 
- Chemotherapy 
- Hormone therapy 
- Surgery 
- Breast conserving surgery 
- Mastectomy 

 - Lymph nodes surgery

Combination of treatment can also be done depend on stage and spread of breast cancer. 

TNM classification is use to diagnose the grade of cancer
T-tumor size
N-lymph node involvement 

M-metastasis (spread) 


If there is lymph node involvement removal of nodes should be done which leads to lymphedema because drainage is not possible .

The only treatment for lymphedema is PHYSIOTHERAPY
And recovering of arm movements physiotherapy is must. 
The physiotherapy treatment will be discuss in next blog, the topic is interesting can't be explain in this blog. 

Women can also do self examination at home.



Don't hesitate to discuss all symptoms to your doctor because it's a dangerous to hide the symptoms to your doctor.
